National Specialty Weekend 2007
Montgomery County KC

The Montgomery County Kennel Club’s annual all-terrier show is not just another show; for that matter, it’s not even just another specialty.  For terrier people, it is THE SHOW!!  For the committed serious breeder, a win at MCKC is the ultimate, surpassing wins at the more highly publicized shows such as Westminster and AKC Eukanuba Invitational.  The weekend is comprised of four days of outdoor shows (two days of Hatboro KC shows, one Devon KC show and the grand finale - Montgomery), all held in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania, amid the fall colors and picturesque landscape, culminating with many national specialties on the last day, MCKC Sunday. Without exception these four shows have the largest number and highest quality Welsh Terriers anywhere in the world.  A win at any of these four shows means that you have shown against the Best of the Best and been judged by recognized experts.

We are proud to say our tradition of excellence continues.  Our young dog, Nick, Ch Bayleigh Shaireab’s Nick of Time (below and right) completed his Championship from the 6 – 9 month puppy class at the MCKC show. In addition to being Winners Dog at Montgomery, he was Reserve Winners Dog at Hatboro I, Winners Dog at Hatboro II and Winners Dog and Best of Winners at Devon. 

Our girls were simply spectacular, with each of them standing out from a very strong field. Our three girls who were shown MCKC weekend are either daughters or the granddaughter of Ceri, Ch Shaireab’s June Bug (right), who was herself a previous winner at MCKC. 

Emma, Ch Bayleigh Shaireab’s Cover Girl (right) won Award of Merit at the Hatboro II show.  Nerys, Ch Shaireab’s Penbryn Calendar Girl (above), who is co owned with Wendy Warnock, was Best of Winners at Hatboro I,  Reserve Winners Bitch at Hatboro II, Winners Bitch at Devon and Reserve Winners Bitch at MCKC.

Ceri’s granddaughter, Coco, Bayleigh Shaireab’s Sneak a Peek (left), who is proudly co-owned with Geraldine and Nathan Jaitin, was Best of Winners at Hatboro II and Best of Opposite in the Sweepstakes at MCKC. Both Coco’s mother, Mya (Ch Shaireab’s Bayleigh Sneak Preview), who was a Ceri daughter, and sire, Henry (Ch Brynhir B’Berg Henry Hyde), are previous specialty and MCKC weekend winners.

Watch for Nick and Coco in the future.  They’re taking some time to grow up and mature before returning to the show circuit later in the year.  Nerys is now home with Wendy enjoying her new hobby of earth dogging as she awaits motherhood.  Emma finished 2007 as #2 Welsh Terrier Bitch with two Best in Specialty Show wins, in addition to multiple group wins.  Justin is enjoying life in sunny Arizona after completing 2007 as Stud Dog of the Year with Multiple Best in Show winning progeny throughout the world. Ch Shaireab’s Just N Time was # 1 Welsh Terrier and #9 Terrier All Systems in 2007.

Judge's critique from Ken McDermott about Nick:
"Winners Dog, Bayleigh Shaireab's Nick of Time: smashing dog from the 6-9 month puppy class who filled my eye the moment that I laid my eyes on him because of his beautiful head, his excellent shoulders and his oh so correct squareness.  Being in the first class he set the bar high in quality right from the start and all others were challenged to come up to his level.  He was the picture of correct type and I was delighted to hand him the purple rosette."
